"After being first-placed on the international World Music list of the Transglobal World Music in July, and after spending four months at the very top of the European World Music List, Damir's new album continues to attract attention," the Agency said. Every year, the National Association of Music Critics nominates music albums released in Germany.
"This prestigious institution nominated Damir Imamović's album 'Singer of Tales' this summer for its award in the category of traditional music. Today we received the news from Berlin that Imamovic is the winner of this prestigious award," the Agency announced.
"I thank the German Association of Music Critics who nominated me for the award and, in the end, voted for me! This is an award for the whole team who worked on the album. I can't wait to mark the end of the coronavirus pandemic with a big tour that we postponed for understandable reasons." Imamović said.
Imamovic recorded his seventh album "Singer of Tales" with an international team consisting of American double-bassist Greg Cohen (known for his collaboration with Tom Waitts, John Zorn and Bob Dylan), Istanbul musician Derya Türkan (known for his collaboration with Kudsi Erguner, Erkan Ogurom) and violinist Ivana Đurić (a member of the band Sevdah Takht Damir Imamović). The album was produced by renowned London producer Joe Boyd and Andrea Goerlter and released by London-based Wrasse Records.
