The most recent activity of Kladanj diaspora was organized by Dženana Šečić that has collaborated and worked with Maj. Britt and Rene S. who have been actively helping and contributing to Bosnia and Herzegovina through support programs and donations to volunteer fire departments and emergency medical services. The event took place in the headquarters of the Kladanj Volunteer Fire Department.
On this occasion, eleven high-quality firefighter uniforms made by the company “VIKING” were donated to the Kladanj Volunteer Fire Department. Volunteer firefighters and guests from Denmark also made a tour around the Department’s building, exchanged their experiences, reflected on the rich and long history of the Department, discussed work conditions and ways in which they can be improved. A future collaboration that would include workshops and exercises was also agreed on. Through these planned activities, Kladanj Volunteer Fire Department would connect and start to collaborate with other volunteer fire departments in Bosnia and Herzegovina that are already in partnership with Danish guests.
Velija Gogić, the youngest volunteer firefighter, was encouraged to lead a new section of the Department that would aim at gathering young volunteers from Kladanj and its surroundings.
On that same day, our Danish friends donated five uniforms to Kladanj emergency medical service. The official giveaway took place in Kladanj Health Center and the medical service team that was on duty thanked warmly for the donation on behalf of the entire management and staff of this institution. The total and final amount of the donation was thus around 25.000 KM.
The representatives of Kladanj i-diaspora, as the good hosts, took guests from Denmark on a tour. They showed them some of the most beautiful and famous destinations in the municipality such as the lake Gorskooko, picnic area Bebrave, and the spring Muškavoda. Delighted by the lovely nature and after finding about a 300-kilometer-long mapped bicycle route, Danish guests expressed their wish and plan to promote Kladanj as a tourist destination and attraction.
Future partnership and collaboration will apparently continue. In addition to the planned and arranged activities that should be realized in the following months, the next gathering will have Danish guests and representatives of i-diaspora visiting Tito’s cave, Bebrava cave, mountain lodge “Miljkovac”, and the Roman route.
