The war events in Europe have not only brought great concern and emotional uncertainties, but also a willingness to help and solidarity. For people who were directly affected by war or who are still fleeing, such events often revive memories and fears that, if not dealt with, can continue to have an impact and be a burden for generations to come. At the same time, current events also fuel tensions and insecurities where social and political conflicts persist. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, these challenges are evident today.
The International Online Podium addresses selected topics and offers the opportunity to discuss professional knowledge and experiences that can contribute to maintaining and promoting the capability of professionals to act under challenging circumstances.
On the first day we will focus on legal frameworks, structures and processes for dealing with refugees and asylum seekers. Furthermore, we will shed light on the situation of people in a Bosnian refugee camps and address reporting in the media on flight and in particular push backs in Croatia.
On the second day, we will discuss the topic of (re-)traumatization and transgenerational trauma – also in connection with the Ukraine war. In this context, we will also focus on the potential and possibilities that principles and procedures of trauma pedagogy could provide as a professional response. The topics are the areas of interest of a Bosnian-Swiss group, including practitioners, students and lecturers who have prepared the International Online Podium together, to promote interand transdisciplinary cooperation as well as learning and development across borders.
About the cooperation
The cooperation between a Bosnian inter - and transdisciplinary network and a team from the HSA FHNW started in 2008. Since then, many joint projects in the field of research, teaching and practice have been realized. A central interest lies in the ‘cooperation’ and its quality as a prerequisite for the theory-practice transfers as well as for innovative developments.
Newly gained knowledge and experience were continuously incorporated into teaching and students were given the opportunity for international exchange and networking within the framework of study trips and workshops at Summer and Winter Schools. With the wish to have a continues exchange we established an online exchange format during the pandemic. The International Online Podium IOP 2022 is the result of this cooperation and collaboration in ‘Trialogue’, between students, representatives from practice, politics and academic lecturers from the two countries.
The main topics of the International Online Podium IOP 2022 represent areas of interest of this Bosnian-Swiss working group, which has jointly prepared the podium to promote inter – and transdisciplinary cooperation as well as learning and development across borders.
