My name is Sandra King-Savić. I am a lecturer and postdoctoral researcher at the University of St.Gallen. In my capacity as a migration researcher, I am looking to talk to people who moved from former Yugoslavia to Switzerland between 1960 - 1990/1995 to find work. I would also like to talk to people who came to Switzerland during the 1990s Yugoslav Secession Wars. It is my intent to learn about the experiences individuals made upon migrating to Switzerland, and what it means to build a life in a new country.
All interviews and conversations will be kept anonymous. No private data will be passed on to third parties.
In my project I want to explore the following question:
What does ‘integration’ mean to a person who has migrated?
How, more specifically, do former Yugoslav migrant workers and refugees describe their experience of migration and arrival?
At the end of the three-year project, I plan to publish a book on Jugoslav labor migrants and refugees in Switzerland, and their experience of migration, arrival, and ‘integration’.
If you would like to share your experiences of migration and arrival in Switzerland, you may contact me via e-mail at sandra.king-savic [at] unisg.ch.
Our conversation can take place in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian/Montegrin, German or English. I would be very happy to hear from you.
