The afterwar situation and the transition process with its transition phenomens, situation of the radical social change, of the economic stagnation and in particular on the political crisis, place Bosnia and Herzegovina in all areas faced with great challenges.

This affects not only the social sector, which can no longer rely on the former structures and resources, but completely new problems and tasks such as the transition from a post-communist to a democratic understanding of the social system occur.

In order to meet these challenges of change and bring about a sustainable renewal, its needed the practice of research and in particular of teaching in the social fields, including the development of a new understanding of the profession and the stimulation of new approaches.

Since 2008, the University of Social Work Basel has accompanied a team from the University of Tuzla and representatives of the Social Ministry as well as practitioners in this process of change through various cooperation projects in research and teaching.

In the study week, students from Switzerland will have the opportunity to work together with students of the University of Tuzla with Bosnia and Herzegovina's new social work approaches and perspectives of being soutiful and failing to get to know different life situations and working fields of the local stakeholders (Center for Social Work, Socio - education residential group for delinquent youth, Psychiatric clinic, NGO Viva zene and its center for rehabilitation and trauma and many others).

The discourse between Bosnian and Swiss students should begin to reflect and stimulate attitudes in social work on both sides.

During the study week, the students of the University of Social Work Basel will have the opportunity to explore new topics and concepts of social work in a foreign context, to compare practices and to identify differences and commonalities of education and in the social realm of ethereal self-understanding.

Another important goal is to promote international networking and exchange at the student level.

In order to be able to carry out the student week in an adequate framework, the organizers are grateful for a financial subsidy and donations. Thus, they would like to compensate the Bosnian students, as well as the specialists involved from Bosnia, their personal expenses as well as the effort. The students from Switzerland cover their own contribution. Accordingly, they hope to successfully implement this exchange with your financial support.
