Potential of a women's movement in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Is there a potential for a women’s movement in Bosnia and Herzegovina? What are the challenges activists facing today? What unifies the women? What is the role of the international community and what support do activists hope for?

Bosnia and Herzegovina potential of women’s movement

Laura Meier is a sociologist originally from Lucerne, living today in Bern. Last year she spent 7 months in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the ground, Laura Meier conducted a study on behalf of the "Heinrich Böll Foundation" in Sarajevo, where she examined the potential of a women's movement in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the course of this study she had the possibility to speak with more than 40 women’s activists from all over the country.

Online Conference

On Wednesday 15 April at 8 p.m in a Zoom conference Laura will talk about her personal experience on the ground. This will be followed by a joint discussion on the topic. The global idea of the event is to create an intercultural exchange, where the role of women today in the Bosnian and Swiss society can be discussed.

The event will be in English language and also German and Bosnian translation is provided if needed.
