Thirty young people from the countries of the Western Balkans and Switzerland on an exchange in Zenica

In the period from March 16 to 20, Zenica is the center of the latest activities organized within the project We make democracy! and hosts young people from the Western Balkans and Switzerland.

Thirty participants in the project We make democracy! in the coming days will actively work on thinking and answering the question: How to take advantage of life in the digital world?

"I am glad that we can host this group of young people in our city after all the problems we had in organizing the event due to the coronavirus pandemic. The atmosphere is great for now, and the participants are delighted with Zenica and the mentality of our people - said Aldin Vrškić, a representative of the i-platform and one of the trainers on the project.

Vrškić points out that this group has already had the opportunity to work together in recent months and that he believes that after this exchange they will be more ready to finalize the activities they are working on as part of the project.

On the first day of the meeting, the young people had the opportunity to get to know the interesting and rich history of the city on the river Bosna through a walk through Zenica and a tourist tour designed by the guide Afan Abazović. Although the tour was originally planned to last 90 minutes, with great interest from the guests, the tour lasted more than two hours.

"After yesterday's tourist tour, I feel that this is a city that should be visited and explored even more. People are very cordial and try to help even though they do not speak English. In a way, I feel at home. For people who come from the Balkans, this reminds us of home "- Fiona Dinollari, a participant from Albania, shared her impressions with us.

On the second day of the exchange, in the premises of the Association "Our Children" Zenica, workshops on editing and editing video and audio materials were held, as well as workshops during which participants worked on social media strategy and digital campaign.

The best thing about this project is that we give participants the freedom to work on what they want and feel and support them in achieving their goals. Sometimes when you work with groups, the energy level during training decreases, there are conflicts between individuals, etc. However, when it comes to this group, you feel in the air that everyone is committed and highly motivated, which is ideal for a coach."

According to participant Fiona Dinollari, the opportunity for future young leaders to gather at such events is perfect for networking, sharing information and experiences: "By making international friendships and connections, we are one step closer to EU integration and other achievements. However, today's results of our work will be visible, of course, only in a few decades. "

In order to get even better acquainted with the reality of Bosnia and Herzegovina and feel its soul, young people will visit Sarajevo in the coming days and get acquainted with the work of organizations that actively work with young people.

We make democracy! implemented by the Swiss National Youth Council (SNYC) and its long-standing partners: i-Diaspora in Switzerland, Association for the Care and General Rights of Children "Our Children" Zenica, IPM "Institute for Political Management" in Slovenia and Youth Center "Perspective" in Albania.
