Thanks to the dedicated work of the employees of the City Administration of Zenica, as well as the BiH representatives of the i-platform, the interest of citizens is growing from month to month for the "Zenica Meet Up". So this time we had the opportunity to meet new people, originally from Zenica, who currently live on different continents. Among them, Ms. Amra Mehmedić, Assistant Mayor of Zenica for Economy and Development, had her place. Respected Mrs. Mehmedić is one of the returnees to her hometown. Our representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Aldin Vrškić, introduced all those present, who had not fully understood the work and goals of the i-platform until then, to the same.
Usually, after the initial introduction of the participants and getting to know each other, we started working. A Zenica resident with a Canadian address took care of a cleaner and more environmentally conscious Zenica with his proposal. A regular participant in these meetings offered solutions in the form of software, which would, initially, serve to monitor the landfill. In order for the project to be realized, it is necessary, first of all, for it to be owned by a public company, as well as for its further implementation to involve IT experts from Zenica who would, ultimately, profit thanks to this project. Representatives of the City supported this, as well as most of the proposals that are in correlation with the IT industry, and hinted at possible further cooperation in this regard.
Another interesting proposal came from a man from Zenica who lives in New York, and who is, among other things, a basketball coach and co-owner of an international sports academy. The mentioned gentleman suggested that the most talented young basketball players from Zenica be sent to the "Big Apple", with the financial help of the City Administration, who would be guests of the academy and thus get a certain addition to the already existing knowledge. Also, the proposal is that within the Zenica Summer Fest, in August, basketball camps be established for young Zenica basketball players who would, in their city, learn from more experienced basketball players. The mentioned camp would be part of the "Days of the Diaspora" event.
At the end, a proposal was made to build an incinerator, through European Union funds, and the possibility of making a cartographic representation of the city through history was offered, and all this will be discussed at future meetings.
The next one is scheduled for May 25th at 7 PM.
